Likewise whilst at low altitude climb rates of 2000ft/min may be possible, but at altitude, the climb rate falls eventually reaching a maximum altitude that the aircraft can achieve for it's given weight. This is compounded by the aircraft's weight. As an aircraft gets higher, it gets more difficult to climb as the air becomes thinner. I think this ties in with my earlier post regarding aircraft weight. At this point, I think I was getting close to 'coffin corner' (any faster would have resulted in overspeed and much slower would have caused a stall). I lowered the rate of climb to 500ft/min and even managed to accelerate to M0.80. I then set the autopilot to climb to FL400 and initially was able to maintain M0.74, but this began to decrease. At this point, I went into the fuel and load selection menu and changes the load to zero and fuel to 30%.īack in the sim, I noticed that the airspeed was still falling, so I reduced the rate of climb to 800ft/min and was able to reach F元50 (35000ft) whilst maintaining M0.74. As I passed F元00, I noticed that the airspeed was starting to drop back. Above FL250, I switched to Mach and selected 0.71 initially and up to 0.74 at fl280.

Once above FL120 (12000ft) I accelerated to 300kts. After take-off, I climbed straight ahead at 1500ft/min (I saw from your video that this was the climb rate you selected) and 250kts (all controlled via the autopilot). I set it up on the default runway, with full fuel and load. As an experiment, I ported over my copy of the CLS DC-10 from FSX to P3D v3.4.
